Field Trip Sign Up Form for Rural STEM PLC

Thanks for being a part of the Rural Arizona Teachers Professional Learning Cohort!

Please fill out the information below to indicate your interest in a couple of upcoming field trips. Our hope is that engaging in an interdisciplinary STEM experience will bring you new inspiration for developing classroom content while also building relationships with other rural STEM teachers from across the state. We will set aside time during each field trip experience to collaboratively build lesson plans to support your teaching. If you'd like to share your blank lesson plan template with other attendees, please email it to Anna Pawlow at apawlow@societyforscience.org.

We will have funding to support your food and travel needs for the day, and may be able to accommodate an overnight stay, if your travel requires it. Please give your best guess of travel expense needs in the appropriate questions below. Also, check out this reimbursement form, so you'll know what we'll need from you in order to reimburse your expenses.

To prepare for each field trip, we ask that you bring the following:

  • Any relevant resources related to mining, mineralogy, environmental impacts, etc.
  • Your preferred lesson planning template
  • Your initial thoughts about creating a lesson plan

Here are a few resources that may help you take different pathways to the lesson plan creation (minerology, mining careers, environmental impact of modern society, restoration, material science, etc.):

U of A’s School of Mining a & Mineral Resources

Materials of the last century shaped modern life, but at a price
